Holiday Makeup

Don't be intimidated by the thought of holiday makeup. It is easy to look sophisticated, stunning and festive without feeling like a tinsel decoration!

One easy way to look festive and stylish is to wear a red lip. Red lips are everywhere this season, paired with glowing skin and barely-there eye makeup. Make a red lip the feature, and keep the rest soft and subtle. There is so much flexibility with formulas that you need not be intimidated!

Not so keen on doing a full-on red lipstick? Try a sheer lipstick, and layer on one layer or build the intensity with a few. One of my favourite sheer lipsticks is gloMinerals sheer lipstick in Jamaica, a sheer red that looks amazing on everyone, from the palest of the pale like me, to deep skintones. It works with your natural undertones, so the red is so flattering.

If you are going the red lipstick route, there are a few ways to make it easy and fresh. Again, it is so important to keep the rest of your look subtle. You can pair a strong red lip with a touch of eyeliner on the top lid, mascara and soft skin (no strong blush here!). My favourite red lipstick is called Cabaret by gloMinerals, and is a deep creamy red. I like to achieve a fresh look with such a strong colour by applying it with my finger and pressing it into the lip, blotting and then pressing another layer on. If you would like to wear a lipliner with it, line your lips and fill them in with a liner in a similar colour to your lipstick, then apply your lipstick over top straight from the tube or with your finger. Blot and then reapply for a longer-lasting effect.
